The Director of BONE TOMAHAWK is Developing a New Western
First of all, if you haven’t seen writer and director S. Craig Zahler and actor Kurt Russell’s Bone Tomahawk yet, you need to watch that movie! It’s easily one of the craziest and most horrific westerns that I’ve ever seen. The filmmaker recently revealed in an interview with Screen Daily that he is currently developing a new western and I couldn’t be more excited to see what he’s got planned!
He doesn’t reveal anything about the story, but he teased that he wrote a 317 page script for it and he’s considering turning it into a limited series for a streaming service like Netflix. He went on to explain why he would like to eventually work with Netflix, saying:
“I would like to work with Netflix, they’re very upfront, they give you the money and give you creative control. I hope to be in business with them soon, I think they’d be a good partner.”
Netflix definitely seems like it would be the perfect home for a filmmaker like Zahler, who most recently directed the film Dragged Across Concrete with Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn. I’m excited about seeing that movie, but I can’t wait to see what he’s cooked up for this new western!
Bone Tomahawk centered around Russell’s character, who leads a small group on a mission into savage terrains of the old west to rescue a kidnapped housewife from some insanely deadly Native American cannibals.
Are you excited to hear that Zahler has got another western coming?
