The Disney Fox Merger Has Hit a Snag in Mexico
Overall, Disney’s acquisition of Fox has been going pretty smoothly around the world. However, it has hit a snag in Mexico. Large companies like Warner Bros. and Universal own about 15.12% and 11.45% of the sports content in the cable industry respectively.
After the merger, Disney would own almost 30% of the sports content and that’s a major concern for the country. In the US, Disney was abe to placate the Department of Justice by agreeing that it would sell any of the sports content it gained from Fox and it sounds like there may be a need for a similar deal elsewhere in the world.
