The Disney+ Version of STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE Features a New Altered Greedo and Han Scene
It looks like the infamous scene between Greedo and Han Solo in Star Wars: A New Hope has been altered again. This will be the third time that the scene has been changed! Any true Star Wars fan knows that Han shot first, but George Lucas changed things up to make it look like Greedo shot first.
The latest version of the scene has a subtle change. To highlight the change, Twitter user Garrett McDowell shared a video comparing all of the film's versions side-by-side. He included the original 1977 version, 1997 version, and 2004 version all next to the latest one.
The new version of the scene has a different kind of lighting that is lighter than the original version but darker than the other two. It’s also a little bit longer and includes another quick shot of Greedo saying something before the shootout. It’s a bit more difficult to tell who shot first, it looks like they might shoot at the same time, though. Maybe having the two characters shoot at each other at the same time is the compromise.
There’re no subtitles on what Greedo is saying, but it sounds like he says “Mclunkey.” I’ve watched the scene a few times on Disney+, but I have no idea what it is that he’s exactly saying, but… okay. According to THR, a Disney rep says that George Lucas "made the change before the property was acquired in 2012." Check out the scene for yourself below and let us know what you think!
It’s ridiculous that this scene has gone through so many changes!
Well, they've done it again. #DisneyPlus appears to have altered the infamous Han and Greedo scene from #StarWars. See for yourself. pic.twitter.com/6aGqwoOrzF

How...? Who...? How is this something someone decided to do? I can’t even make a clear thought about this. pic.twitter.com/buC5ptGQ7S
