The Duffer Bros. Explain the STRANGER THINGS Spinoff Series Will Be "1000% Different" From the Flagship Series

As you know, the Duffer Bros. and Netflix have been looking at developing a Stranger Things spinoff series. But, don’t expect that spinoff to have anything to do with the flagship series. The spinoff is going to be completely different and it won’t continue the story of any of the characters from the original series.

During a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt and Ross Duffer were asked about the spinoff they are developing and this is what they said about it:

“It’s not following…I’ve read these rumors that there’s gonna be an Eleven spinoff, that there’s gonna be a Steve and Dustin spinoff or that it’s another number. That’s not interesting to me because we’ve done all that. We’ve spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of that. So it’s very different.”

They went on to say that the spinoff will be “1000% different” than the flagship series. So what will the connective tissue be for the spinoff? They say it is the “storytelling sensibility.” If this is the case, it sounds to me like Stranger Things is going to be like an anthology franchise.

They go on to say, “Hopefully we find that right person to pass the baton to while we go on to do new stuff,” and added that they’re “really jazzed” about their spinoff idea, which is something not even Netflix knows about yet.

I’m curious and excited to see what kind of completely new story the spinoff series will tell.
