The Duffer Brothers Say They Know How STRANGER THINGS Will End, But Don't Know When That Will Be
The Duffer Brothers have created a fantastic phenomenon of a series with their Netflix hit Stranger Things. Just before the quarantine and subsequent shutdown happened, the series released a video showing that they had begun their table reads for the upcoming fourth season, and fans were getting pumped to get the ball rolling! But as you know, Hollywood had a setback, and things are up in the air for now.
But the Duffers sat down with Deadline’s Pete Hammond on his show Behind The Lens and chatted extensively about the creation of the series, the choices they’ve made so far, and living up to the hype the show has created. In the interview, the guys talked about the future of the series, and how they know the way it ends:
"We like to look at each season as kind of its own complete story. We do have a pretty large mythology, and season by season, we're turning the page and revealing a little bit more and more. So we do have a general sense of where we're going. We've known the ending of the show for quite a while.”
The went on to say:
"I mean, the honest truth is, we didn't know if we would go beyond season one. So we liked the idea that season one could function as its own standalone limited series, but it had the potential to go beyond that. But yeah, we have an ending in mind, we don't want to keep churning it out."
That’s just another reason why these guys have created such a great series. Some people come up with an idea for a show and run with that. If it becomes a success, they continue to push the story forward at all cost. But the Duffers have an end in sight, and they will keep creating until that end can be met in the way that makes the most sense. They are great storytellers, and Stranger Things is a fantastic show. I can’t wait to see what Season 4 has in store for us!
