THE END is a Wonderful Video Tribute To Cinema Made Entirely of Gifs

With movie theaters opening back up after over a year, French filmmaker Fabrice Mathieu wanted to take the opportunity to pay tribute to cinema with a wonderful video tribute he calls “The End”.

It’s explained that "The End" is “an experimental narrative short film, in black & white and color, made only with movie gifs with a perfect loop, more than 500. ‘The End’ is also a tribute to the cinema, from silent films to now.”

The video is a mesmerizing 6-minute mashup of footage from hundreds of different movies and I hope you enjoy it. For those of you movie lovers out there, have fun finding the references and influences throughout the history of film.
