The EU Has Until October to Rule on Disney's Acquisition of 21st Century Fox

Disney has already passed all the regulation hurdles here in the United States, but the deal includes some international assets as well which leads to some more regulators across the pond needing to clear the deal. These regulators have recently been given a deadline to make a decision by October 19. If needed, the EU can launch a 4-month investigation, although this will only happen if there are serious concerns. If there are no concerns, they can approve the deal with or without caveats.

This deal started back in December and it was revealed that Disney was expecting at least 12 months to be taken up by the regulatory process. That means that there’s a chance the deal will go through just in time for the new year. Of course, it’s also possible that the deal won’t be able to finalize until well into 2019.
