THE EVIL DEAD Necronomicon and Deadite Linda's Head Hit the Auction Block: A Rare Chance for Horror Fans
If you’ve ever dreamed of flipping through the infamous Necronomicon or locking eyes with Deadite Linda’s severed head, now’s your chance.
Tom Sullivan, the legendary special effects artist behind The Evil Dead trilogy, is putting his personal collection of props up for auction through Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction.
But be warned, these cursed relics come with some hefty price tags.
Sullivan, who worked alongside Sam Raimi to craft the franchise’s nightmarish visuals, is parting ways with some of the most iconic pieces in horror history.
The Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, one of the most sought-after props in the auction, is expected to fetch anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000.
Propstore describes the book as having “a brown latex-coated cardboard cover filled with hand-illustrated 38 pages (glued together in pairs to form thicker pages) of parchment-color paper that were intentionally distressed by production.
“The pages feature original artwork hand-illustrated by Sullivan. The book's cover was made from cardboard coated with latex and is now separated into three pieces (front, spine, and back) with some latex loss to the components. The interior pages are also loose from the covers.”
If that’s a little out of your price range, perhaps you’d prefer the Kandarian dagger, which is projected to bring in $10,000 or more.
But those aren’t the only Evil Dead treasures up for grabs. Fans can also bid on:
Deadite Linda’s head – A surprisingly affordable piece, expected to sell for $800 to $1,600.
Deadite Shelly’s burned facial appliances – Estimated between $1,500 and $3,000.
Ash’s special effects arm and hand from Raimi’s early short film Within the Woods – Could bring in $2,500 to $5,000.
Concept art for the original 1981 poster – Expected to sell for $1,200 to $2,400.
A prototype of the Necronomicon – Estimated between $4,000 and $8,000.
Linda’s necklace and its screen-matched gift box, her dismembered leg, Deadite Cheryl facial prosthetics, and even Sullivan’s original illustrated script are also available.
The auction takes place March 26-28, starting at 10:30 AM PDT / 5:30 PM GMT each day. Bidders can participate online, by phone, or in person at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
The event also includes props from Scream, Halloween, Gremlins, and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
