THE EXPANSE Has Officially Been Saved By Amazon!
Shortly after we learned that the Syfy Channel canceled The Expanse, Amazon jumped in to try and save it. Well, now it's official! The deal is done and The Expanse is getting a fourth season at Amazon!
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who is a huge fan of the book series, made the announcement at the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference in Los Angeles on Friday night. Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson had this to say in a joint statement:
"We couldn’t be more excited that 'The Expanse' is going to continue on Amazon Prime. We are deeply grateful that Jeff Bezos, Jen Salke, and their team at Amazon have shown such faith in our show. We also want to thank Laura Lancaster, head of Alcon Television for her tireless efforts. We are fully aware that this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the staggering outpouring of support from the most creative, hardest working sci-fi fans around the world. From reddit campaigns to airplanes, we say thank you. It worked!"
The series is based on James S. A. Corey's best-selling book series of the same name. The story unfolds across a colonized galaxy 200 years in the future when two strangers become unwittingly swept up in a vast conspiracy.
This is a great move for Amazon and I'm so happy to see that this story will continue as a TV series. I'm sure that Amazon and the team behind the show will deliver an incredible fourth season and I imagine that won't be the last season.
The series comes from Academy Award-nominated screenwriting duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) and it stars Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham and Frankie Adams.
Are you happy to hear that Amazon has saved The Expanse!?
