THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Is Said to Center on the Government Not Wanting Sam Wilson to Be the New Captain America

There’s still so much that we don’t know about Marvel’s upcoming The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series. We do know that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will be back to reprise their roles and that the main villain will be Daniel Bruhl’s Baron Zemo. We also know that Sam Wilson will be easing into the role of Captain America.

Some new information has come to light that fans might find interesting. The info comes from the latest episode of Fatman Beyond in which hosts Kevin Smith and Mike Bernadin discuss a bunch of Comic-Con news, and when Marvel comes up in the conversation, Smith wondered if Falcon would actually become Captain America in the series. Bernadin seems to have some knowledge of the show and confirmed that Falcon would. He then went on to drop this interesting tidbit of news:

“That, I think, is the crux of what that show’s going to be. The government doesn’t want Sam Wilson to be Captain America.”

Bernadin doesn’t say where he got the information, and it hasn’t been confirmed by Marvel, but he seems confident in the intel and it certainly seems like a plausible storyline. I imagine that the government would want control over and a say in who the next Captain America should be.

I’m actually ok with this series going in this direction. I’m also sure a lot of fans can relate to the government regarding this. After all, a lot of fans didn’t care for the fact that Steve Rogers handed the shield over to Falcon.

What do you think about Sam Wilson and the government being at odds in the series? Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier arrives on Disney+ in fall 2020.
