THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLIDER Series Story Is Rumored to Involve a Viral Threat
Marvel fans seem pretty pumped up about the shows that are being developed of Disney+. One of the projects that most fans seem excited about is The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will be back to reprise their roles and the main villain will be Daniel Bruhl’s Baron Zemo from Captain America: Civil War.
According to a rumor that originated from HN Entertainment, the two heroes in the series might end up having to deal with some sort of massive viral threat in the series. The report speculates that this viral threat could come from Virus X, the Madbomb, or something else. Whatever it is it will put the population in grave danger.
There is a chance that this could in some way be tied to the Madbomb. Back in 2016, the Russo Bros. revealed to Entertainment Weekly that had Robert Downey Jr. not joined Civil War, they would have used the Madbomb story from the comics for the movie. Anthony Russo said:
“There was a period where we did discuss a third act that revolved around the Madbomb from Cap mythology.”
“It didn’t have anything to do with Civil War, and if we couldn’t get Downey — in the very, very early conversations before we nailed him — somebody pitched the idea of a third-act that revolved around the Madbomb, which makes people crazy. It almost like zombifies them — but not literally.”
“The charm of the Madbomb is that you turn hordes of people into berserkers. That was the physical challenge that Cap and company would have had to face.”
That storyline could have easily been shelved for the right time and project, and maybe The Flacon and The Winter Solider is it! They could just tweak the Madbomb concept and change it from a device to a virus. Seems like something that Baron Zemo would cook up!
In the comics, Madbomb was “an A-bomb-like device that came in different sizes and used sonic waves instead of radiation blasts to cause its devastation. It didn’t demolish buildings — it wrecked the minds of everyone in proximity, turning them into a mindless zombie mass, although its victims were still alive and just violently out of their minds rather than undead.”
This could be a great and thrilling storyline for the series. There’s no confirmation that this is what the story will entail, but it’s something that I’d like to see play out!
The series directed by Kari Skogland, and Emily VanCamp is also returning as Sharon Carter/Agent 13 along with Wyatt Russell as John Walker, aka U.S. Agent. John Wick creator Derek Kolstad and Empire’s Malcolm Spellman are currently on working on the scripts.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will begin airing on Disney+ in the fall of 2020.
