THE FANTASTIC FOUR Cast Describe AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY as "Epic," "Tragic," and "Mental"

The next big thing for the MCU is the introduction of Marvel’s first family in the upcoming film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This will hold us over for a year, film-wise, as the next movie on the slate is next summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Each of these movies will lead into the next main event, Avengers: Doomsday, which is being compared to Avengers: Infinity War, the devastating start to what concluded in Avengers: Endgame.

This too will be a two-parter, with the follow up, Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), completing the story. Knowing that the Russo Brothers are returning to helm these epic movies gives us some hope that these will be solid flicks, but The Fantastic Four cast has also chimed in on their feelings about Doomsday, as they have already spent some time on set and have gotten a feel for the movie.

In a recent interview with BBC News, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) were asked to describe the next big MCU event film in four words, and the responses were, "Epic, tragic, intergalactic, starry," and "epic, mental, Robert, Downey and Jr."

This description sounds right. If the film is anything like Infinity War, it will certainly be epic and tragic. In a separate interview, Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman) was asked how it felt to be a part of Doomsday's sprawling ensemble cast.

She responded, “We’re with all these guys that have done it for 18 years and it’s just an amazing thing to be a part of. These guys have grown up together, they’ve had families, gone through life and they’re still united in this tight family — and we’re a new family coming into their family.”

Finally, Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic) was asked to "blink twice" if former Captain America actor Chris Evans is appearing in either First Steps or Doomsday during an interview with a German outlet.

“Are you speaking English or German? I can’t tell. I didn’t understand a word he said. I’ve just gone into… a blackout.”

Evans is not expected to show up in First Steps, but is rumored to be reprising his role as Steve Rogers in Doomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is set for release on December 17, 2027.
