THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Eyes Huge $210M Global Opening After Strong Reviews

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to welcome its First Family in a big way. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is tracking for a massive worldwide debut as glowing reviews roll in just days before the film hits theaters.

According to Deadline, the Marvel Studios reboot is projected to open between $190 million and $210 million globally, making it one of the biggest superhero launches in recent years. Domestically, the film is aiming for a $100 million to $110 million debut, while the international box office is expected to bring in $90 million to $100 million.

Interestingly, just a few days ago, early projections suggested a $130 million to $140 million domestic opening, so this slightly lower estimate might seem conservative. Still, these numbers would be an strong start for a franchise best known for underwhelming past adaptations.

For comparison, Superman soared to a $220 million worldwide opening signaling that both Marvel and DC are managing to defy the so-called “superhero fatigue.”

Advance ticket sales for The Fantastic Four: First Steps have already hit $20 million, matching the presale numbers Superman had before its $125 million U.S. debut. It’s not a competition, but you can bet Kevin Feige is breathing a sigh of relief that Marvel’s relaunch isn’t being overshadowed by the Man of Steel.

Adding to the hype, the film has been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, which should boost turnout this weekend. That’s especially important considering earlier MCU releases like Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* struggled to meet expectations at the box office.

I thought The Fantastic Four was great! It definitely delivered a good and entertaining time with a couple great action sequence that audiences are going to love.
