FANTASTIC FOUR’s Galactus Actor Would “Love to Cross Swords with Doctor Doom” in a Future MCU Movie
Marvel fans are still holding onto hope that Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom will show up in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. But despite all the speculation, the film’s cast and director Matt Shakman keep saying it’s not happening.
Now, Ralph Ineson, who plays Galactus in the movie, has addressed the rumor while sharing which Marvel character he’d like to face off against in the future. And yes, Doom’s name came up. Ineson told GamesRadar+:
“This isn't based on anything that I know, but I worked with Robert Downey Jr. a few years ago on a film and he was a really nice guy, so I'd love to cross swords with Doctor Doom.
“But that's not saying I know anything, we just know he's coming into it but yeah, I'd like to work with him again.”
That little tease sparked some excitement among fans, even though Ineson is clear he doesn’t know anything official. Still, imagining a clash between Galactus and Doom? That’s an MCU moment worth dreaming about.
Julia Garner, who plays the Silver Surfer (Shalla-Bal), jumped in with her own thoughts on future team-ups:
“That would be a cool one. That's a good one. But also, I would like to work with you more. We didn't have any scenes together! And then, you know, you wouldn't have to be solo.”
It’s surprising to hear that Galactus and Silver Surfer didn’t share scenes, given their deep connection in Marvel lore. That might simply mean they filmed separately. Ineson confirmed that his time on set was pretty isolated:
“It was a slightly different way of working [and] quite solo, just me and the crew,” he explained. “Everybody was working for four or five months on the movie before I showed up to actually shoot but I visited many times for fittings and camera tests. So I'd pop in and be like, ‘Hi’ and everyone’d be like, ‘Who's that weird guy?’”
Whether Galactus and Silver Surfer return after The Fantastic Four: First Steps is still unknown. What we do know is that the Fantastic Four will play a major role in Avengers: Doomsday, as revealed during that massive five-hour cast announcement earlier this year.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays The Thing, even has his own MCU dream matchup:
“I'd love to see a Thing/Hulk pairing, whether it's adversarial or on the same team. I think [there'd be] some kind of tenuous relationship there, so that would be my first choice.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits UK cinemas on July 24. Could Galactus and Doctor Doom ever share the screen? Nothing’s confirmed, but fans can’t stop imagining the possibilities.
