Critic's First Reactions Of BLACK PANTHER Are Overwhelmingly Positive
The first batch of media have seen Marvel's Black Panther, and they absolutely love it. Almost universally, all critics are praising Black Panther for its refreshing spin on the hero genre, the performance of Michael B. Jordan, and lots of other stuff. Take a look at some of the reactions from notable folks around the web:
Ryan Coogler knocked it out of the park, some great sequences presented in a “single take/shot.” If this movie isn’t nominated for costume, art and production design awards next year, I would be seriously shocked. #blackpanther

#marvel does it again with 'Black Panther'. Very impressed with the story and filmmaking. @michaelb4jordan absolutely kills it as the villain and is the best one since Loki. Also @DanaiGurira kicks so much ass and I loved every second of it. Going to make serious $. pic.twitter.com/YBrg2x3Nnz

I think the argument can be made for #BlackPanther being the best Marvel film ever! Just got out of premiere & overwhelmed at the imagery, the majesty, & a film that elevates the superhero genre to new heights. pic.twitter.com/LSkWEconB4

So much love for Black Panther. The exploration of Wakanda is phenomenal, Erik Killmonger is unquestionably one of Marvel's best villains, and manages to be both fun and dramatic. Can't wait to see it again! pic.twitter.com/46fRrYKuul

#BlackPanther is way more topical than I anticipated, but also timeless in a way. It asks all of its characters what they stand for besides themselves. This is the kind of fantasy that inspires real heroism.

BLACK PANTHER is incredible, kinetic, purposeful. A superhero movie about why representation & identity matters, and how tragic it is when those things are denied to people. The 1st MCU movie about something real; Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger had me weeping and he’s the VILLAIN

I was right. I am forever changed. Ryan Coogler is forever the realest for this. #BlackPanther doesn't even feel like a #Marvel movie. This is a good thing. pic.twitter.com/peBHeiSun5

Ryan Coogler’s #BlackPanther claws through old genre conventions, bringing more faces that live in the present into a future where we can see more inclusion with intersectionally rich drama, action, & incredible experiences that will reach anyone no matter where they come from.

Black Panther is epic on the outside, but powerful and intimate on the inside. It feels totally different from the rest of MCU in the best possible ways. pic.twitter.com/tJNQJF19wb

That's just a handful of the tweets rolling out about this film today. Our review is on the way, and I'm sure Joey will have plenty to say about this film upon its release! Black Panther releases nationwide February 16.
