The First Trailer For TRANSFORMERS Spinoff BUMBLEBEE Has Arrived

The first trailer for the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee has arrived, and its action packed, heartwarming, and a bit confusing all at the same time. Check out the trailer and then jump below for some ramblings about it:

First off, let me say that I love the action scenes! Of course, that's to be expected as I'm sure that's a large part of why people still show up for these films. I didn't really get a huge 80s vibe from watching the trailer, although I guess I can appreciate some subtlety rather than rampant product placement constantly reminding me what era we're in.

Overall it was fine, although I do take issue with the weird moment at the beginning that features a voiceover of Bernie Mac's character. Doesn't this film take place before Transformers 1? Why was that put in there? It just felt weird and out of place for me, especially when the scene itself was never incredibly uplifting or iconic.

The movie is being directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) and stars Hailee SteinfeldJohn Cena (Ferdinand), John Ortiz (Kong: Skull Island), and Kenneth Choi (Spider-Man: Homecoming).

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

Anyway, I'll probably be going to see this film around Christmas time, what about you?
