The First Two Episodes of THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Will Get a Theatrical Release

Amazon’s upcoming fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is going to premiere soon, and we’ve just learned that J.R.R. Tolkien fans will have the opportunity to watch the first two episode of the series in theaters on the big screen!

The theatrical fan event will take place on only one night – August 31st, which is two days before it makes its streaming debut on Amazon Prime Video.

The event is being hosted by Cinemark, and they created a page for the one-night-only event, with a note that tickets will become available on Monday at 9am PT. The reservation also comes with a $10 snack voucher. The event is also only available to Cinemark Movie Rewards members.

Outside of the U.S. and Canada, Amazon will also screen the first two episodes in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Argentina, Colombia, Australia and New Zealand. Reports indicate that the fan event will unfold across roughly 200 locations globally.

It’s pretty cool that Amazon is actually doing this! This is definitely an event that I’d love to attend! There’s also a new trailer for the series set to drop tomorrow.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power “is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 2, 2022.
