THE FLASH Director Andy Muschietti Teases the DC Multiverse Saying "All That You've Seen Exists"
It’s been made very clear that director Andy Muschietti’s The Flash is going to break open the DC multiverse in big and exciting ways. Bringing Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton back to reprise their roles as different versions of Batman is just the tip of the iceberg.
In a report from Vanity Fair it’s explained that the plot of The Flash will see Barry Allen "breaking the bonds of physics to crash into various parallel dimensions, where he’ll encounter slightly different versions of DC’s classic heroes."
The director of the film went on to explain things a little further regarding how this new DC Multiverse is actually going to work, saying, “All that you've seen exists.” He says:
"This movie is a bit of a hinge in the sense that it presents a story that implies a unified universe where all the cinematic iterations that we’ve seen before are valid. It’s inclusive in the sense that it is saying all that you’ve seen exists, and everything that you will see exists, in the same unified multiverse."
So, the multiverse that was explored in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover is real and relevant, and everything from Superman to The Dark Knight to Green Lantern, and more have all happened and are canon in their own respective realities. I assume that also means The Joker and The Batman.
This is sure to be a complicated concept for people who are not familiar with how this all works in the comic books. While The Flash is the focus of the movie, it sounds like anything goes, anything and any cameo is possible as Muschietti explores the DC universe with Ezra Miller's Flash leading the story.
What other things are you hoping to see in The Flash that you know anything can happen?
