THE FLASH Features One of Ben Affleck's Favorite Scenes as Batman and Says "He Finally Figured It Out"

Ben Affleck’s final appearance as Batman will be in director Andy Muschietti’s upcoming DC film The Flash. Well, in a recent interview with The Herald Sun, Affleck revealed that this film features one of his favorite scenes as Batman and that, in regards to playing the character, he “finally figured it out.” He said:

"I have never said this — this is hot off the presses — but maybe my favorite scenes in terms of Batman and the interpretation of Batman that I have done, were in the Flash movie. I hope they maintain the integrity of what we did because I thought it was great and really interesting — different, but not in a way that is incongruent with the character. Who knows? Maybe they will decide that it doesn't work, but when I went and did it, it was really fun and really, really satisfying and encouraging and I thought, 'Wow — I think I have finally figured it out.'"

That’s great to hear. It’s also kind of funny that when Affleck finally figured out the character, he will not be back to play him. He went on to confirm that this is his final appearance as Batman, saying that working on The Flash was "a really nice finish on my experience with that character."

I actually liked Affleck’s version of Batman, and I would have liked to see this version of the character grown and played with more in the DC cinematic universe. But, not everyone was happy with his casting, and when it was first announced he would be playing the character there was some backlash. In a separate interview on The Howard Stern show, Affleck explained that he was hurt by the backlash, saying:

"I was hurt. I was less hurt than I would've been 10 years earlier. But I was hurt because I felt like 'Wait a minute, come on. What do I got to do to' you know what I mean? Like, I'm just you know, like, 'Jesus Christ'...I thought it was an interesting idea but you know what? I also realized at that point...it's gonna be, 'Now this turns into a petition.' Now they got this thing, everybody's going to do a petition. You're really – a hundred thousand [signatures], you signed a f*cking petition like, you have anything better to do with your day than sign petitions? But, ironically, the reason I did this is I wanted to do a movie for my kids, particularly my son, that they would see and be proud of."

Well, now a lot of fans want to see him continue playing the character, and it seems like more people are rooting for him than trying to tear him down. I’m looking forward to seeing his return as The Dark Knight in The Flash, and it’s going to be cool and interesting to see how they handled the character and why it’s Affleck’s favorite Batman scene.
