THE FLASH Supergirl Star Sasha Calle Met With Henry Cavill and She Got His Stamp of Approval
Sasha Calle takes on the role of Supergirl in the upcoming DC film The Flash, and I thought she was awesome in the role! I liked what she brought to the character, and she has some pretty badass action scenes in the movie.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Calle shared that she did have the opportunity to meet Henry Cavill, who played Superman in Zack Snyder’s DC films, and she got his stamp of approval after watching the movie, which explores the idea of a world without Superman. She said:
"Yes, I met him. I met him actually after the movie was done, months later. I gave him a big hug. You know, it's Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel. He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience. I asked him, 'Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?' And he was like, 'Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.' I think, to me, that meant the world, because it's Henry Cavill, Man of Steel."
I imagine that was a really cool experience for the actress to be able to meet Cavill. It’s sad that we’ll never see him back as the Man of Steel again. I know James Gunn has his own vision of the hero that he wants to explore in Superman: Legacy, but the fans were excited to see Cavill’s vision of a brighter and hopeful Superman! Now we won’t ever get to see that.
In The Flash, "Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian... albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"
The movie is directed by Andy Muschietti, and it stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allan, aka The Flash, Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Michael Shannon as Zod, with Ron Livingston and Maribel Verdú, who are playing Barry’s parents. Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Derry Girls) and internet personality Rudy Mancuso will also appear.
The Flash will be released on June 16th, 2023.
