The New FLINTSTONES Animated Series BEDROCK Announces Voice Cast Led by Elizabeth Banks
Fox is producing a new Flinstones animated series titled Bedrock, and the voice cast for the main characters has been announced.
Elizabeth Banks, who has produced the series will lead the voice cast as Pebbles, the adult daughter of Fred and Wilma. She will be joined by Stephen Root as Fred; Amy Sedaris as Wilma; Nicole Byer as Betty; Joe Lo Trulio as Barney; Manny Jacinto as Bamm-Bamm.
This is a primetime adult animated comedy series and it will continue “the story of the Stone Age family, Bedrock catches up with the Flintstone family two decades later, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.”
Warner Bros. Animation and Fox Entertainment are producing the series and this could be a fun show. When the project was first announced Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment said: “Long before the Simpsons and Springfield, the Griffins and Quahog or even when the Belchers started serving burgers on Ocean Avenue, there were the Flintstones and Bedrock. Their imprint on the animation universe is undeniable and the idea of adapting it for today’s audience is a challenge we here at Fox are very much looking forward to taking on with Warner Bros., Elizabeth and Lindsay. No pressure whatsoever, really.”
Peter Girardi, executive vice president of alternative programming at Warner Bros. Animation added: “The Flintstones are the first family of primetime animation. Elizabeth and Lindsay have a brilliant take on these characters, and Fox and Brownstone are the perfect partners to bring them back to primetime. This is going to rock (sorry).”
The series is also being produced by Max Handelman and Sam Register. Lindsay Kerns will write and co-executive produce, Lon Zimmet writes and executive produces.
