The FRIDAY THE 13TH Prequel Series CRYSTAL LAKE Enlists SCREAM Creator Kevin Williamson and Adrienne King

A Friday The 13th prequel series titled Crystal Lake was announced a couple of months ago. That project is being written and developed by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Dead Like Me, Star Trek; Discovery), who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Victor Miller, who wrote the original film in the franchise, will also executive produce the show.

The series is set up at Peacock and the project was given a straight-to-series order. Not much is known about the story, all we know is that it will be an “expanded prequel” to the original Friday the 13th franchise.

During a recent screening of Friday the 13th Part III, Fuller showed up and provided an update on the project and announced that Scream creator Kevin Williamson has been brought on board to write an episode. It was also revealed that the original Friday final girl Adrienne King will have a recurring role!

The news was shared on Twitter by Eric Goldman, who shared: “They officially start writing in 2 weeks. It will have two scores to choose from – a modern one and a classic Manfredini one. Kevin Williamson is writing an episode. Adrienne King will have a recurring role.”

He went on to say: “Fuller has pitched four seasons for Crystal Lake. Only one officially ordered so far though he notes Peacock would have to pay a pretty hefty penalty if they didn’t order a Season 2. Asked if he can confirm Pamela’s role in the Crystal Lake series, Fuller replied ‘We’re honestly going to be covering it all. The series is covering the life and times of these two characters” Those two characters are Pamela and Jason.

Pamela's backstory involved her being a young and pregnant newlywed living in a trailer in Cadiz, Ohio with her abusive husband Elias Voorhees. Pamela believed that she could actually hear the thoughts of her unborn child instructing her towards committing acts of violence. After suffering a long series of beatings perpetuated by her husband, Pamela heeded the voice inside her that told her to "kill".

This is going to make for an interesting series!
