The GAME OF THONES Finale Has Fans Debating Over The Worst Series Finale Ever

I thought I’d give everyone an extra day to watch Game of Thrones before posting this. I’m sure that some of you still have yet to see it, and if you haven’t, you might want to skip this. I don’t really go into any major spoilers, but I’m saying that just to be safe.

If you have seen the series finale, then I know you all have an opinion. For me I felt that although this was one of the greatest shows ever, this finale season just didn’t do it for me. It felt forced and rushed and nothing about it felt like a natural progression to a conclusion. It was a disappointment, not only for me but for a lot of other fans. But, I’m over it and in the end, as a whole, it sure was a wild ride, and I enjoyed the hell out of the series! I also loved the performances from all of the crazy talented actors that were a part of it.

There was a lot of hard work that went into developing this series from everyone involved and it must’ve been an incredible experience for the cast and crew to be a part of. So it really bums me out that this was the final season, and the way the show ended is being dumped on by so many people and is bringing the worst out in the fans. Yeah, I get that people were disappointed by it, but life goes on, and there are more important things to be worrying about.

As you might have expected, the series finale cooked up a debate among fans about what the worst series finale ever made was. Game of Thrones seems to be up there for a lot of fans.

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss previously said they planned on avoiding social media after the finale, which might be a smart idea. Weiss told EW that they wanted people to love it, but:

“We’ll in an undisclosed location, turning off our phones and opening various bottles. At some point, if and when it’s safe to come out again, somebody like [HBO’s Game of Thrones publicist Mara Mikialian] will give us a breakdown of what was out there without us having to actually experience it.”

Added Benioff, “I plan to be very drunk and very far from the internet.” Weiss went on to say that it matters a lot to them that people enjoy it because they, “spent 11 years doing this.” But, he went on to say, “we also know no matter what we do, even if it’s the optimal version, that a certain number of people will hate the best of all possible versions.”

That “certain number of people” turned into a lot of people. More than I’m sure they were expecting. They also said:

“There is no version where everybody says, ‘I have to admit, I agree with every other person on the planet that this is the perfect way to do this’ — that’s an impossible reality that doesn’t exist. You hope you’re doing the best job you can, that this version works better than any other version, but you know somebody is not going to like it. I’ve been that person with other things, where people are loving something and I’m going, ‘Yeah, that’s okay. I was hoping for more.’”
