The GAME OF THRONES Team Admits That The Rescue Timeline in This Week's Episode Didn't Quite Make Sense

I don't know about you, but I absolutely loved this last episode of Game of Thrones, which was titled "Beyond the Wall." It was just loaded with badassery, and you can see how they pulled off that epic in a behind-the-scenes video that you can watch here.

If you haven't watched the episode yet, there are spoilers ahead.

Regardless of the greatness of this last episode, there was one thing that raised some questions and that was the questionable timeline leading to Jon Snow and his team being rescued by Daenerys and her dragons. The timeline didn't really work or make sense and the creative team behind the series was well-aware of it. While speaking to Variety, director Alan Taylor explained:

"We were aware that timing was getting a little hazy. We’ve got Gendry running back, ravens flying a certain distance, dragons having to fly back a certain distance…In terms of the emotional experience, [Jon and company] sort of spent one dark night on the island in terms of storytelling moments. We tried to hedge it a little bit with the eternal twilight up there north of The Wall. I think there was some effort to fudge the timeline a little bit by not declaring exactly how long we were there. I think that worked for some people, for other people it didn’t. They seemed to be very concerned about how fast a raven can fly but there’s a thing called plausible impossibilities, which is what you try to achieve, rather than impossible plausibilities. So I think we were straining plausibility a little bit, but I hope the story’s momentum carries over some of that stuff."

I totally understand what they were trying to do and it didn't really bother me at all. It just made me raise an eyebrow, but it's an easy thing to let slide because we are dealing with a fantasy world. However, if you do want to see an opinion on how the timeline could actually work, click here

It really just comes down to two things, you were either engulfed in the episode and enjoying it like myself and didn't care, or it just annoyed the hell out of you.

Regardless, it's nice to see Taylor come out and offer an honest explanation to the fans who were bugged by it.
