The GARFIELD Animated Feature Film to be Helmed By The Director of EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE
Alcon Entertainment is set to move forward with their animated feature film adaptation of the classic Garfield comic strip.
They’ve hired Mark Dindal to direct the film. He is the same guy who directed The Emperor’s New Groove and Chicken Little. The Emperor’s New Groove is one of my favorite Disney animated films because it’s so funny and so different from any of the other films that they have made.
It’s great that Dindal has found another directing gig and Garfield seems like a perfect project for him to take on. Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove co-wrote the screenplay. and Garfield creator Jim Davis will serve as an executive producer.
I love Garfield and his wonderfully dry sense of humor! I used to read his comics all the time when I was growing up. I owned almost every Garfield book that was published and enjoyed the animated holiday specials that were produced.
The comic centered around a cynical and lazy cat and the life he led with with his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and his pet dog Odie.
There’s no information on what the story for the film will entail, but I’m sure it will take the best of what Garfield was and built a story around it. Hopefully, whatever they come up with ends up being entertaining! It’s got to be batter than the live-action films that were made!
