THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Screenwriter Steve Zaillian Is Developing a TOM RIPLEY Series
Oscar-winning screenwriter Steven Zaillian is set to develop a new crime series that focuses on the character Tom Ripley. You might recognize the name from Matt Damon’s film The Talented Mr. Ripley, which is based on a character from the Patricia Highsmith book series.
Zaillian, who will write and direct the series, has worked on some great projects in his career. He’s written scripts for Schindler’s List, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Moneyball, American Gangster, Gangs of New York, and more. The guy is a super talented writer, so there’s a good chance that this series is going to be great.
According to Deadline, “this will go in a straight-to-series deal,” and it will be the first major series for Zaillian since the acclaimed HBO miniseries The Night Of.
It’s also explained that Zaillian will use the five novels in the series, and those consist of The Talented Mr. Ripley, Ripley Under Ground, Ripley’s Game, The Boy Who Followed Ripley, and Ripley Underwater “as a road map to show Ripley’s progression from con artist to serial killer.”
Does this sound like the kind of show that you’ll be tuning in to watch?
