The Goldbergs came to Comic-Con@Home this year with a super fun panel that celebrated the series up to this point, and teased a bit what we can expect in the upcoming season. The show has run for seven seasons so far, and is looking forward to the upcoming eighth. The series was created by Adam F. Goldberg, and is based on his life growing up in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania in the 1980s with his wacky family.

The show stars Sean Giambrone as Adam, Wendi McLendon-Covey as mom Beverly Goldberg, Troy Gentile as brother Barry, Hayley Orrantia as sister Erica, George Segal as Pops, Sam Lerner as Geoff Schwartz, all of whom attended the panel, as well as Jeff Garlin as dad Murray Goldberg, and Patton Oswalt as the narrator, grown up Adam Goldberg.

The panel discussed the fact that the series didn’t get a chance to film the seventh season finale due to the pandemic, but teased that the episode will be included in season eight. McLendon-Covey shared that the episode includes a wedding, but didn’t say who was getting married. The actors also teased that this season will see more independence for Adam, Geoff standing up to Erica, and Beverly finding more of her purpose as she prepares to enter the empty nest phase of her life. They also said that one of the themes they’ll explore this season is the classic 1980 film, Airplane!.
