THE GRUDGE Horror Film Is Being Remade
Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures and Good Universe are planning to remake the 2004 horror film The Grudge, which is already a remake of the Japanese film Ju-On. Both were directed by Takashi Shimizu.
The studio is already working on it and has hired Midnight Meat Train scribe Jeff Buhler to write the script. He is also working on a remake of the insane movie Jacob's Ladder.
The American version starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as a nurse living and working in Tokyo. She is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim. It cost around $10 million to make. In the end it pulled in $187 million worldwide and led to a terrible sequel.
The new film will be produced by Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Taka Ichise. I thought we were over the phase of scary pale killer ghost kids. Even with Raimi producing the movie, I still don't understand why it's being made again.
