THE GREEN KNIGHT "Legends Never Die" Promo Offers an Oral History of the Arthurian Legend
Director David Lowery medieval fantasy film The Green Knight is a film that I’m very much excited about watching. This movie looks so damn good, and it’s finally going to be released in theaters later this summer!
For those of you not familiar with the legend of the Green Knight, A24 has released a new promo video titled “Legends Never Die,” and it offers an oral history, giving us almost everything we need to know about the Green Knight.
The video is narrated Ralph Ineson and offers some fascinating information, some of which I never knew before. This little promo video actually got me even more excited and interested in watching this movie.
The film stars Dev Patel as Sir Gawain, “King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic green-skinned stranger.” As you can see, Patel is wielding a badass battle axe. Here’s the official synopsis:
An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, THE GREEN KNIGHT tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger. From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.
In addition to Patel, The Green Knight features Joel Edgerton, Barry Keoghan, Ralph Ineson, Alicia Vikander, and Sean Harris.
The movie will be released next summer on July 30th, 2021.
