The GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Trilogy Will Tell One Big Story According to James Gunn

James Gunn has done amazing things with the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films and he's got one more to go as he closes out the full story of these characters. This is seriously one of the greatest space operas that has been made since the original Star Wars trilogy.

In a recent interview with EW, the director confirmed that his three movies will tell one big story. He explains:

“I think really that the three movies work together as a whole, they’re going to tell one story. This is the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and we’re going to get to know the characters even better in the same way we got to know them much better in this film than the first one."

Having seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 already, it's easier for me to see how all these films will connect and where the story will go. There are a lot of story elements from the first film that carry over into Vol. 2, and I imagine some of those story arcs will continue through Vol. 3. Gunn went on to talk about taking on Vol. 3 saying:

"I wouldn’t have said yes if I didn’t have a fairly clear idea of where we were going and what we were going to do. I’m not a guy that’s just going to do it if I don’t have a vision for it. So, I’m very excited."

As for the soundtrack for Vol. 3, Gunn teased that it's going to be "a little different." He's obviously not going to give any hints as to what we might hear in that soundtrack. All he said was:

"Just different, you know? I think we’ll have to wait for a little while, but yeah, different."

The soundtrack of "Awesome Mix Vol. 2" is currently available for purchase and I absolutely love it! It makes me happy. I can't wait to see what sweet tunes he brings to Vol. 3.
