The HALO Series Creative Team Didn't Look at or Talk about the Game While Developing the Project

Here’s a bit of news regarding the development of the new Halo series that is sure to make fans of the game franchise happy! That’s a sarcastic remark as Halo season one showrunner Steven Kane recently said that he and the creative team didn't look at or talk about the games while developing the show. You’d think they’d be having all kinds of conversations about it, at least n terms of capturing the tone of it!

I was having a conversation with a friend recently about the series as he watched some of it, and in that discussion, he said that it looked like the creative team didn’t even look at the game. The day after we had this conversation, this new information came out!

Here’s what Kane admitted in an interview with Variety, "We didn't look at the game. We didn't talk about the game. We talked about the characters and the world. So I never felt limited by it being a game."

But the game is such a massively important element and key to the whole thing with the lore and world! Why would he even admit that? Some of the hardcore fans are already upset with Master Chief removing his helmet and the weird design of Cortana.

Here’s what Microsoft executive and Halo producer Kiki Wolfkill had to say on freeing the Halo show from its game source material, “Early on, we were thinking about doing something that could tie very closely with the game. What we were finding was, trying to verbatim stay with everything that’d come before wasn’t serving the medium. It also wasn’t serving the creative teams and their need to express a story and build the world through their eyes.”

A lot of the reviews I’ve seen for the Halo series haven’t been too good. I don’t know, it just feels like the whole approach to developing this game is off. It’s like the did the opposite of what a lot of fans want.

I have liked what I’ve seen in the trailers for the series, but I’m starting to get a little concerned about what this series will end up being. We’ll find out soon enough, and I still hope that it actually turns out to be good!
