The HAN SOLO Film Has Wrapped Production and Finally Has an Official Title SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY
After some on-set drama that led to a complete change in directors, to the addition and subtraction of cast members and after months and months of waiting, the Untitled Han Solo Spinoff has finally wrapped production.
Director Ron Howard took to twitter today, as he has faithfully done since taking over, to announce that they have finished shooting the movie. Oh, and he also FINALLY revealed the official title of the movie, but don't hold your breath, its pretty much what everyone expected. Solo: A Star Wars Story.
In the video, Howard thanks all the cast and crew and also mentions that he will see us "next year." Now that could mean a variety of things, but it most likely means that Solo: A Star Wars Story will be in theaters next year. Now is it significant that he didn't say, "See you in May?" Because Lucasfilm has insisted since parting ways with original directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, that their departure and the hiring of Howard to take over would in no way affect the original release date of May 25, 2018. So I find it interesting that Howard kept it vague with "next year." Does this mean, Lucasfilm might slow their roll and push Solo to December? That is yet to be known. But regardless, we are getting Han Solo next year, and that is a pretty exciting thing to think about.
I don't actually mind the title, but it is very strange that Disney and Lucasfilm made us wait so long to get an official title only to release the most obvious one. That's a little irritating. What do you guys think? Like it? Hate it? Don't Care? Have any better ideas? Let us know in the comments.
