The HARLEY QUINN Animated Series Will Continue Under James Gunn's Rule of DC Studios
Yesterday was quite a whirlwind event for DC Studios as they made some big film and TV announcements. After that event, there were a few lingering questions that fans had. One of them involved the fate of the Kaley Cuoco-led Harley Quinn animated series
During a press event, Gunn was asked about the show and if it had a place under DC Studios, and he confirmed that they do plan on moving forward with it! Gunn said: "We're going to keep forward with that,” and Safran said the show is "fantastic," and Gunn said, "Yeah, considering I'm on the show.”
This is definitely a welcome and reassuring update! It’s not every day that a show on HBO Max gets to stick around! There’s a standalone special episode coming titled Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special, on February 9th, and there’s also a fourth season coming with a new showrunner and executive producer in the form of Sarah Peters (Master of None), who will be taking over from Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker.
Now we know the series will have a future life after what’s already in development. The voice cast also includes Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Alan Tudyk as Clayface and the Joker, Ron Funches as King Shark, JB Smoove as Frank the Plant, Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor, Natalie Morales as Lois Lane, Jim Rash as Riddler, Diedrich Bader as Batman, Tony Hale as Dr. Psycho, Chris Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Rahul Kohli as Scarecrow, Sanaa Lathan as Catwoman, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, and Jacob Tremblay as Robin.
The series is based on the DC character created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, Harley Quinn is created and executive produced by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey.
