THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE Director Mike Flanagan Will Helm All Seven Episodes of MIDNIGHT MASS

Mike Flanagan, the director behind The Haunting of Hill House series and Doctor Sleep, confirmed that he will be helming all seven episodes of the new Netflix horror series Midnight Mass.

I’m a big fan of the projects that Flanagan is developing these days. The guy is a super talented storyteller and on top of Midnight Mass, I’m also excited to see what he delivers for The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is the followup series to Hill House.

The filmmaker recently took to Twitter to offer the update, saying, "Heading back to Vancouver to finish The Haunting of Bly Manor, and to start Midnight Mass. 2020 is already shaping up to be pretty damn busy... can’t wait to show y’all what we’re up to."

Flanagan went on to confirm that he is only directing one episode of The Haunting of Bly Manor and that he hired other directors to take on the rest. But also added that he will be directing every episode of Midnight Mass:

"Only directing one episode of Bly, we brought in some awesome filmmakers to helm it. But I’m directing all episodes of Midnight Mass."

The seven-episode Midnight Mass follows “an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events — and frightening omens — after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest. Flanagan will direct and serve as an executive producer alongside Macy. The project has no relation to the Midnight, Mass Vertigo comics.”

While I’m a little bummed Flanagan isn’t directing all the episodes of Bly Manor, I understand he’s only one person, and I’m happy to see that he is committing himself to all the episodes of Midnight Mass, which I’m sure will be a great series!
