THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE Season 2 May Bring Back Carla Gugino for a New Role
The Haunting of Hill House is an incredibly well made horror drama and is one of my favorite shows of all time. Season 2 is currently in development and it will be called The Haunting of Bly Manor. This new series will not continue the story of Season 1. It will be a completely different story that is based on the 1898 novel by Henry James, which is called The Turn of the Screw.
It looks like at least one of the actors from the first season might return to work with series creator and director Mike Flanagan. During an interview with The Wrap, Carla Gugino revealed that she has been talking to the director about taking on a new role. She says:
“Well, I can’t say anything definitive at this point, other than Mike and I really love collaborating and working together and any opportunity where a schedule allows for us to do that, we will, and I would be honored to. So we’re talking a lot about it and we’ll just see if all schedules allow. All I can say is I’m very excited for Season 2 and to see what Mike does.”
Gugino gave an incredible performance in Season 1, so I would love for her to come back and play a new character in Season 2. I hope that things work out. It’d be great to see some of the other cast members come back as well! American Horror Story always uses the same actors, so why couldn’t this horror anthology series?
Here’s a description of the The Turn of the Screw novel:
A very young woman's first job: governess for two weirdly beautiful, strangely distant, oddly silent children, Miles and Flora, at a forlorn estate...An estate haunted by a beckoning evil.
Half-seen figures who glare from dark towers and dusty windows- silent, foul phantoms who, day by day, night by night, come closer, ever closer. With growing horror, the helpless governess realizes the fiendish creatures want the children, seeking to corrupt their bodies, possess their minds, own their souls...
But worse-much worse- the governess discovers that Miles and Flora have no terror of the lurking evil.
For they want the walking dead as badly as the dead want them.
It’s safe to say that Flanagan and his creative team will change the story up to make it work as a TV series. That’s expected, and I trust that they’ll once again deliver another incredible series!
