The HELLBOY Reboot Lands an R-Rating

We’ve been told time and time again from the Hellboy reboot creative team that when they were making the film they were shooting for an R-rating. We’ve heard a lot of talk about them taking it to a dark, gritty and horror-filled place. While we have yet to see any of that in any footage, because the first trailer that was released was kinda light and fluffy, we do have confirmation that Hellboy will indeed be rated R.

The Hellboy reboot was directed by Neil Marshall and stars David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, Milla Jovovich as the Nimue the Blood Queen, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio, and Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, a witch who has decided that the Blood Queen's wrath has gone on for too long. Then there’s Thomas Haden Church, who is playing Lobster Johnson.

Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

Hellboy hits theaters on April 12th, 2019. I know a lot of people aren’t really excited for this movie, but is the fact that it’s going to be rated R in any way give you hope?
