The History of the Wars that Inspired GAME OF THRONES - Video Presentation
TED-Ed has released an interesting video presentation that takes us through the history of the wars that inspired George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, which is also know as the Game of Thrones on HBO. I'm sure many of you have already heard of the "Wars of the Roses," but this video offers a nice little refresher course of what it was all about and explains how it influenced the epic fantasy story that many of us are enjoying today.
Beginning around 1377, medieval England was shaken by a power struggle between two noble families, which spanned generations and involved a massive cast of characters, complex motives and shifting loyalties. Sound familiar? Alex Gendler illustrates how the historical conflict known as the Wars of the Roses served as the basis for much of the drama in Game of Thrones.
