The Hit Video Game CROSSFIRE is Getting a Film Adaptation From FAST AND FURIOUS Producer
Sony Pictures is teaming up with South Korean game developer Smilegate to develop an adaptation of the hit video game Crossfire. The script for the film was written by Chuck Hogan (The Town, 13 Hours, The Strain) and Fast and Furious producer Neal H. Moritz is producing.
Crossfire is an online tactical first-person shooter and due to its popularity in Asia, especially China and South Korea, it became the most played game in the world by player count of all time, with 660 million players worldwide. It ended up becoming one of the highest-grossing video games of all time, having grossed over $10.8 billion in lifetime revenue.
The game features two mercenary corporations named the "Black List" and "Global Risk," who are locked in an epic global conflict. Players assume the role of either a Black List or Global Risk mercenary, joining an online team that must work together to complete objective-based scenarios.
There are no details on what the story for the film will entail, but the creative team has a lot of room to create an original story for the movie.
