The Icky New Creatures in THE MANDALORIAN Chapter 10 Were Based on Unused EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Concept Art
The Mandalorian Chapter 10 saw Mando and The Child facing off with a horde of icky and nasty new spider-like creatures. If you’re not a fan of spiders, these things are sure to make your skin crawl.
Well, it turns out these creatures, which laid dormant in a cave on an icy planet, were originally created by Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie for The Empire Strikes Back. Those initial designs were scrapped at the time, but this latest episode utilized them in the perfect way!

I love that the creative teams of these new Star Wars projects pull old unused art from McQuarrie out and utilize them in these new stories.
