THE INFINITE FORBIDDEN is Exciting Even Outside of Fiendsmith

Konami recently launched the latest core set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, The Infinite Forbidden. This set has quite a bit for duelists to look out for.

There’s new Exodia support, more support for Memento, new support for Tenpai, the world premiere of the Mimighoul archetype, the TCG introduction of Fiendsmiths and so much more.

Konami was kind enough to send me a box of The Infinite Forbidden to open and you can watch that video below my thoughts.

I’ll be honest, when it was first announced I was excited for Exodia support. I have always wanted to find a way to make that deck viable and so I’m always intrigued to see what new support can do for it.

Then, I felt disheartened with the reveal of Fiendsmith information because it is so strong that it will probably not adjust the meta game in a way that I like.

Luckily, I am hyped enough for the non-Fiendsmith cards and my locals aren’t super competitive so the other archetypes including Mimighoul make me excited.

There is also a semi-controversial card in The Infinite Forbidden though: Mulcharmy Purulia. Many people see this as a discount Maxx “C” which will cause mayhem in the format. Personally, I don’t think this is true. I think that Purulia will have an impact, but I don’t think it’s going to be as toxic as many think it will.

There are limitations on it such as the fact that it only triggers on summons from the hand, during the End Phase you have to shuffle back cards if you meet the criteria, and you cannot control any cards. In essence, this card is only usable on turn one unless your opponent wipes out your board.

In short, while I agree with many that Fiendsmiths are ridiculously powered, there are tons of other cards that I’m excited for. I also wish that Konami would revisit the ways that rarities are handled in the TCG to be more like the OCG. I think that The Infinite Forbidden is a solid set.

As always, let me know in the comments what cards you are the most excited about and what your pulls are.
