THE JETSONS Animated Film Will Be Helmed By SAUSAGE PARTY Director
Warner Bros. is moving forward with their animated feature film adaptation of The Jetsons and they've hired Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon to develop the project. Vernon also co-directed films such as Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. He also provided the voice of Gingerbread Man in Shrek.
WB has been developing The Jetsons for awhile now and in 2015 they hired Matt Lieberman to write the script. Lieberman is also writing the Short Circuit remake. Robert Rodriguez was originally attached to the project, but he no longer has any involvement.
I used to the watch The Jetsons all the time when I was a kid. I haven't watched that cartoon in years, but it was a sci-fi show that centered on the futuristic lives of the Jetson family that consisted of George, Jane, Judy, and Elroy Jetson along with Rosie the Robot.
There are no details on what the film's story will entail, but Vernon seems like a solid director that will do a good job developing the film. Sausage Party was pretty damn funny. I don't expect The Jetsons movie to be as vulgar as Sausage Party, though.
