The Joker is Coming To GOTHAM and it's Not Going to Be Jerome
Gotham has had a lot of fun reimagining Batman's rogue gallery of villains and for the most part I've been enjoying it. One villain that fans have been waiting for is The Joker and a lot of fans have assumed that Jerome will become this insane villain. After all, he has all the same crazy mannerisms as The Joker including that wicked smile and maniacal laugh. But, no. Jerome is not The Joker, but The Joker will eventually make his debut. They are leading up to it.
Gotham star David Mazouz has debunked the Jerome theory and talks about this new version of The Joker saying that it's one of the most brilliant things the series will do. During an interview with Discussing Film, the actor said:
"He is not the Joker, that's all I'm saying. He is definitely the inspiration for the Joker and the way that the Joker comes into the show is in my opinion one of the most brilliant things Gotham has ever done."
It's going to be interesting to see how they actually end up bringing The Joker into Gotham. There's no word on when the villain will make his debut, but it'll probably happen sooner rather than later. When previously talking about the character, actor Cameron Monaghan, who plays Jerome, teased what we might expect to see:
"I can confirm. What we've cooked up and discussed is something not to be missed. It's a twist on familiar themes, both new and old echoes of the mythos. Something entirely new, but we believe true to the spirit of the show as well as the comics. Proud I got to be a part of it."
Whatever the creative team behind the series ends up giving us, it's going to be a new twist on what we already know about the villain's origin. All I can hope is that they do the character justice when they bring him into Gotham. I hope to hell that he's terrifying.
Do you have any ideas on how you think The Joker will be brought into the show?
