THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS Is Being Developed as a Series for HBO Max by Cary Joji Fukunaga

The classic James Fenimore Cooper novel The Last of the Mohicans is being adapted into a TV series thanks to HBO Max. The series is described as “a retelling of the novel in which the young Mohican Uncas develops an unlikely romance with Cora, the mixed-race daughter of a British colonel in the midst of the Seven Years’ War.”

The series also has a talented team on board developing it, which includes Cary Joji Fukunaga (True Detective, No Time To Die, Maniac) and Nick Osborne, who are writing and executive producing the show. Then there’s Nicole Kassell (Watchmen, Castle Rock, The Killing, Better Call Saul, Westworld), who is attached to direct and executive produce.

The Last of the Mohicans was adapted into a wonderful film directed by Michael Mann in 1992 and starred Daniel Day-Lewis. I love that movie, and I’m happy to see that the story is going to be adapted into a series. There’s so much story to tell and with a series, the creative team will get to really dive into that story and tell more of it.

What do you think about The Last of the Mohicans being developed as a TV series for HBO Max?
