THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER Is Already Available to Watch at Home

The recently released Dracula-inspired movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter was a great Hammer-style type horror movie that, unfortunately, people didn’t go out to see in the theater. The movie crashed and burned at the box office with only $15 million worldwide.

In an effort to help recoup its budget, Universal Pictures has released the film on Digital so that you can order it and watch it at home. You can now rent the film for $19.99 or flat-out purchase it for $24.99.

It sucks that this movie bombed so hard at the box office because it really was a good horror movie worth watching on the big screen! It was just released at the time when Barbie and Oppenheimer were both blowing up at the box office. Plus, I don’t think the studio did a very good job marketing it. I guess we won’t be seeing horror movies like this on the big screen again for awhile, which sucks.

The film was directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), The film’s story focuses on one chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, it’s a unique story that follows the voyage of Dracula as he terrorizes on the high seas. Also, the creature effects were done practically, and they work they put into it was very impressive.

It’s “based on a single chapter, The Captain’s Log, from Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel Dracula. The chapter tells the story of the Russian schooner, Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo – twenty four unmarked wooden crates – from Carpathia to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a terrifying presence onboard the ship. When it finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, it was a derelict. There was no trace of the crew.”

The movie stars Corey Hawkins (Kong: Skull Island, The Walking Dead), Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David DastmalchianJon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, and Nikolai Nikolaeff, with Javier Botet as Dracula.

If you haven’t watched the movie yet, check it out!
