The LEGO Group Launches Contest to Find the First-Ever Kid Creative Director

The LEGO Group has seen all the cool stuff that kids and their families have done over the last year to stay creative. They recently launched LEGO VIDIYO where kids can make music videos and now they’re looking for the first-ever Kid Creative Director to join the new Kids Creative Studio. Kids Creative Studio is a creative team led by kids and mentored by leading creative professionals to create new promotional campaigns. In order to find the first Kid Creative Director, the LEGO Group has launched a competition where parents can submit a video showing of their child’s (age 7-17) creative skills. Submissions are live now through April 19 and must include approval by a parent or guardian. You can learn more on the official page.

In addition to being the Kid Creative Director, the winner will also receive $10,000 to go “towards their creative and educational endeavors.” Their duties as Kid Creative Director will be to work with the other members of the team and creative professionals from the LEGO Group and Universal Music Group to create music videos and engaging content including a commercial that will launch this summer. Other members of the Kids Creative Studio include the GEM sisters, Bella Klassen, Nicole Laeno, Brock and Boston, Bryton Myler, and Hey Bala!.

Talking about the competition and the opportunity, Amanda Madore at LEGO Systems, Inc. said:

We’re thrilled to be able to empower kids to keep doing what they’ve been doing the last year and truly honor this creativity. We’ve seen the ways kids are reimagining play and the innovative ways they interact with their peers. We believe now is the perfect time to celebrate this creativity by turning over the creative reins to them, recognizing and rewarding kids for being the true creative superstars they are.
