The Live-Action POWERPUFF GIRLS Series Gets a Pilot Ordered at The CW

Roughly six months ago, The CW announced that Greg Berlanti and Diablo Cody were working on a live-action series adaptation of The Powerpuff Girls. The original animated series was created by Craig McCraken and is one of the shows that I grew up on. I absolutely love the show to this day, and I have a lot of reservations about this adaptation. However, the people over at The CW probably don’t care about me since I’m not a teenager seeing as how they’ve ordered a pilot for the adaptation which comes from Cody and Heather Regnier. Per THR:

Cody and Heather Regnier's (Veronica Mars, Sleepy Hollow) take on Craig McCracken's beloved Cartoon Network show has Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhoods to crime fighting. Berlanti Productions, Vita Vera Films and Warner Bros. TV produce. Regnier, Cody, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden are the exec producers; Erika Kennair is producer.

I really am saddened by this adaptation for a number of reasons. It really feels like a gritty adaptation that no one asked for that not only is trying to cash in on nostalgia, but is also pooping on the nostalgia. The girls chose to be heroes. This premise just seems to want to crap on a beloved series. Am I wrong though? What do you think of this new Powerpuff Girls series?
