The Live-Action ROBOTECH Movie Will Be Helmed By IT Director Andy Muschietti

Sony Pictures is actually moving forward with their live-action adaptation of Robotech. This film has been in and out of development for years! Now, maybe there's a chance that something will actually happen with it. It was just announced that the studio has hired the director of Stephen King's IT, Andy Muschietti, to helm Robotech.

James Wan was originally attached to direct it, and I was really excited about that. He would have given fans an awesome movie! I guess things didn't work out with him. I guess Muschietti is a decent choice. I like what I've seen from IT so far, so that's a plus. Hopefully, he will give fans the amazing film we've all been waiting for.

Robotech was one of my favorite animated series when I was growing up in the 80s and I'm been patiently waiting for this big screen adaptation to finally happen. I really want to see a live action movie! I've been wanting to see that happen for years! Hopefully, now it happens.

Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.

According to the report, this is a high priority for the studio and they are looking to move fast on the project. What funny, this is exactly what the two said two years ago when Wan was in the mix to direct. There's currently no writer attached but I'm sure the studio will end up hiring something soon.
