THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Season 2 Begins Production!

The creative team behind Amazon Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power have officially started production on Season 2! As you know, I’ve a big fan of this series, and I’m still loving it! My opinion of it has not changed as I’ve been watching. I’m still very happy with it and I’m excited that the second season is moving into production!

Yeah, I’m sure a post like this will is sure to lure the trolls out to trash on the series, but whatever. Season 2 is shooting at Bray Studios, which is outside of London. Additional filming will take place in New Zealand, which is where the entire first season was shot.

The Rings of Power is approaching its Season 1 finale, and it’s going to be interesting to see how this first chapter of the story will come to an end. I’m especially excited about seeing which character in the story ends up being Sauron in disguise. The last episode that aired was freakin’ incredible, and it certainly left fans shook.

It was also announced that the character Círdan will be introduced in Season 2. Círdan is one of the highest and most noble of the Sindar, Lord of the Falathrim during the First Age, and Master of the Grey Havens through the Second, Third, and Fourth Age. He is oldest living Elf in Middle-earth. He was also gifted Narya, one of the Three Rings, the Ring of Fire, by Celebrimbor until he surrendered it to Gandalf.

The series is based on the appendices from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of Rings books and the story is set in the Second Age of Middle-Earth, “thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

The cast for the series includes Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Maxim Baldry, Ian Blackburn, Kip Chapman, Anthony Crum, Maxine Cunliffe, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Thusitha Jayasundera, Fabian McCallum, Simon Merrells, Geoff Morrell, Peter Mullan, Lloyd Owen, Augustus Prew, Peter Tait, Alex Tarrant, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, and Sara Zwangobani.
