THE LOST BOYS Series Adaptation Gets a Pilot Order From The CW and We Have Plot Details

"Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire."

The CW is moving forward with a series adaptation of the classic ‘80s vampire horror movie The Lost Boys. According to Deadline, they’ve just ordered a pilot episode to be produced.

The series was originally being developed by Veronica MarsRob Thomas, but as of right now, he’s busy working on the new season of Veronica Mars for Hulu. The new pitch that the network picked up came from Heather Mitchell (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy), which the executives obviously liked. Thomas will remain on board as executive producer.

As for the story, here’s the plot summary that was shared:

Welcome to sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat…and a secret underworld of vampires. After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.

That’s basically the same exact plot as the original movie, so it looks like they want to keep things familiar for the long-time fans. The Lost Boys is a favorite movie of mine and I hope this series can recapture all the things I enjoyed about the movie. It’s the kind of story and subject matter that seems like the right fit for The CW, so I’m curious to see how it turns out.

What do you think about The CW moving forward with this Lost Boys series?
