The Main Villain of WONDER WOMAN 2 is Said to Be Cheetah
There's not a lot known about Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman 2. We've previously heard that the movie will be set in the 1980s during the Cold War. Now we have some additional details thanks to That Hashtag Show, who I know has some very solid sources who feed them this information. But, until there is an official confirmation, we will treat the following information as a rumor.
The report says that Chris Pine, Ewen Bremner and Said Taghmaoiu are all set to reprise their roles alongside Gal Gadot, and they've revealed that the main villain in the film will be Cheetah! Here's some information that they offer in which they say the studio wanted Emma Stone in the role.
The film is said to follow Diana Prince into the 1980s where she will (somehow) reunite with Steve Trevor to take on the now dissolved Soviet Union. According to our source, somewhere in that mix will be the classic DC comics’ villainess Cheetah. You won’t have to dig too deeply into Google to discover that Cheetah sits atop the most wanted list of a large percentage of DC fans, but this is no fan fiction. With just 3 months until filming and with the polished script from Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham in hand, Warner Bros. is on the prowl for their Cheetah and though it’s by no means a done deal at this point, we are told the studio was eyeing actress Emma Stone for the role, but we recently confirmed that she has passed on the role.
I can totally see Emma Stone in the role of Cheetah! She's got those eyes that would just pop for this character. But, she passed on it.
If you're familiar with the comics, then you know there have been several individuals that held the mantle of Cheetah. The report says that the version they will use in Wonder Woman 2 will be Barbara Ann Minerva, "a British anthropologist who becomes the avatar of the cheetah god after locating the lost city of Urzkartagan and stumbling into the middle of an ancient ritual. The third of four characters to carry the mantle of Cheetah, Minerva first appeared in 1987 in Len Wein’s post-Crisis Wonder Woman, Vol. 2, #7 and, after a brief hiatus, reclaimed the title in 2011 when DC launched the New 52."
I really hope this news of Cheetah being the main villain is true because she would be great! It's actually who I was hoping to see as the villain in the sequel. What do you all think about Cheetah possibly being the villain in Wonder Woman 2?
As for the return of Chris Pine and the other characters from World War I, I have no idea how exactly that will work. Do you have any theories on how that will be possible?
